Kyoto Station Roof

Most people go to Kyoto to see Gion, Geishas and the famous Temples and Gardens. One of the suprises that tends to divide people’s opinions on arrival however is Kyoto’s immense train station.

The building has an irregular steel frame covered by glass. The interior is shaped like an Ampitheatre with steps and a really long set of escalators running up through it.

My opinion is that is it an Architectural masterpiece but it probably would have been more suitable for another Japanese City.

Because of it’s irregular shape it is a hard place to take a good photo of. This photo from Wikipedia is the best attempt I’ve seen so far.
