Reuters is reporting on an South Korean governmental announcement that they are going to refuse entry to North Korean officials who are part of Pyeongyang’s nuclear weapons program. The only possible problem I see with this is differing interpretations on what defines being part of a nuclear weapons program. As far as I an concerned there is no North Korean governmental official that is not connected to the program in some way.

Based on news earlier this week outlining that the North Korean workers party gets 60% of the Kaesong wages it should rule out anyone involved there from visiting also. I doubt however that it will happen.

The gesture by the South Korean government should be welcomed however especially after the usual bluster coming from Pyeongyang today as reported in the Chosun Ilbo.

The Committee for the Peaceful Reunification of the Fatherland said it will treat South Korean cooperation with a UN resolution sanctioning the North as “a declaration of confrontation against its own people”
