This is an area of the Gobi Desert in Mongolia where erosion and the desert climate has resulted in a Mars-like landscape.
The area is also sometimes described as the Flaming Cliffs because of the colour.
There were loads of fossils lying around the place.
It had the added novelty of rain when we were there which is not very common in the area.
