For anyone who had ever had to hobble around with a twisted ankle after playing football on the sand that is common in Korean schools this is good news.

Through a project by the central and provincial governments to fund artificial grass, the plastic-derived turf will be provided to schools across the nation in a five-year plan from 2006 to 2010. Under the 177-billion-won (US$191 million) plan, 443 schools will have artificial grass playing fields constructed, at the rate of 90 schools yearly.

Unfortunately it could result in replacing twists with carpet burns which can be almost equally painful.
